Why is the email test failing for Foscam SD camera?
Overview: Errors are occurring after configuring the outgoing email account settings and saving the settings. When the test button is clicked an error message is displayed. Follow the tips below to assist with resolving this issue. Step 1: Error result “Incorrect User or Password”
• The username and/or password of the sender’s email account were input incorrectly.
• Verify that no unsupported special characters in the username or password were entered. Verify that the username and password were entered correctly. All information is case sensitive.
• Note that the username is the email address and should be entered as the example foscam@foscam.com always with the @ symbol being entered. Step 2: Error result “Invalid Parameter”
The email account SMTP Server information was input incorrectly. The SMTP server should be the information for the outgoing email account. This information is freely available on the email providers web page. Normally found somewhere in the outgoing email account Settings page or Account information page. If the information cannot be found contact the email provider directly for this information. See here for the SMTP parameters of popular Emails Step 3: Error result “TLS/STARTTLS is not supported at the specified port.”
• The port is not setup for the right TLS.
• Example: Google Mail (Gmail) uses port 587 / TLS email uses port 465
