Overview: This article documents the procedure on how to add a Foscam camera connected to the LAN to a Foscam NVR system via a web browser.
Step 1: Download and install the Equipment Search Tool on the computer that is to be used.
Direct your web browser to http://www.foscam.com/download-center/software-tools.html
Download the appropriate tool for either a Windows OS based computer or MacOS.
Step 2: Run the Equipment Search Tool on the computer; the IP address of the Foscam camera and NVR will be displayed on the window.
Note: If any virtualization software such as Oracle VirtualBox is installed on a Windows based computer the IP Search Tool may not function properly. VirtualBox software installs network drivers which interfere with the proper operation of the software. Temporarily disable the drivers under the Device Manager to allow the IP Search Tool to work properly.
Technical Note: Disable all Pop Up Blockers on the web browser that will be used in the next step.
Step 3: Make a notation of the IP Address listed on the software. Manually launch Internet Explorer on Windows or Safari if you are using MacOS. Double clicking the above link will launch the default browser configured in the operating system and it may not function properly.
• Enter the IP Address and port number of the NVR in this format.
• EXAMPLE: http://192.168.15.24:88
Step 4: If this is the first time the web browser is being used to log into this NVR a web browser plugin must be installed before continuing.
For how to install the plug-in on Windows, please see here
For how to install the plug-in on MAC, please see here
Step 5: If the installation of a web browser plugin was required re-launch the web browser after the installation is completed. Re-enter the IP address of the NVR system into the address bar. Be sure to verify the Pop Up Blocker is still disabled.
• Enter the IP Address of the NVR in this format
• EXAMPLE:http://192.168.15.24:88
Step 6: Navigate to Parameter Configuration → Adding Devices Select the channel and click on the camera on the current LAN IP list which is to be added to the NVR system. Input the username and password for the camera being added and click “Add”

Repeat Step 6 if there are multiple cameras that are being added to the NVR system. Each camera will have to be individually added and Added to the NVR for the system to access them all. Each camera will need to be assigned a Channel assignment. It is recommended that the Channel assignments are mapped ahead of time before assigning them to the system.
Be sure to check other FAQ documents and the Instruction Manual to configure the cameras for your setup and alarm monitoring schedule.
