Overview: This article will introduce possible errors and solutions when error messages are returned as opposed to Successful Test Results.
1. Error code 77, User does not have permission to perform the requested operation.
The cause of this error may be
• The normal causes for this error include the SMTP feature not being activated on the email account
• Normally by default this feature is activated so this is a rare case.
• Normally when configuring a Gmail account as the sender it may generate this error. The Gmail account needs to authorize the camera to use the SMTP feature.
• Login to the Gmail account and look for any emails asking for permission for the product to use this feature. Open the email and follow the instructions contained in the email to enable this feature.
• Normally the cause of this error is that the email account information was not entered correctly. Verify and enter the username and password correctly for the email account and most of the time it will clear up this error. The normal format for the username of an email account is for example: foscam@foscam.com
2. Error code 74, an error with I/O process.
• This is normally caused due to the port information and TLS not being entered correctly.
• Normally the port and TLS are listed on the email providers website or under the account settings page.
• Navigate to the email providers website and obtain the detailed configuration information concerning the TLS and port to be used.

3. Error code 65, the input data are not correct in some way.
• This error code is normally caused because the password of the sender email was not entered or the receiver email account information was not entered.
• Verify the sender email account password has been entered correctly. If this is the case choose the option “Need Authentication” and “Yes.”
• Verify that the receiver’s email address is correctly entered.
4. Unable to resolve SMTP logs.
• This error is due to the port and TLS settings that are not matching.
• Example: Gmail Port 587 is for STARTTLS and port 465 is for TLS.
• Normally the port and corresponding TLS are displayed on the official site of the email service provider. Navigate to the appropriate web page for the email provider and confirm the email settings for the TLS and port settings.
5. Error code 68: The host name is not recognized.
• The SMTP configuration was not entered correctly.
• The SMTP server input is the one of the sender email account. Example information for Gmail is smtp.gmail.com
• The SMTP server information is listed on the email provider’s website. Navigate to the email provider website and confirm the settings are correct for the sender’s email account.
Note: If one type of email account cannot be used consider switching sender email accounts and attempt the configuration again. Most of the needed information for sender’s email account settings can be found on the email providers websites. The information may at times be difficult to locate. Normally a quick search with your favorite Internet Search Engine will reveal the answer. Also, if you are operating on a private network you may need to check with the Network Administrator, the ISP, or the person in charge of the network to confirm there are no firewalls which is blocking specific network traffic. Especially on the outgoing email end of the system. If emails are being received and then suddenly STOP Spam filters may have inadvertently identified the incoming messages as Junk mail and forwarded it to that folder. Check the email settings and adjust the settings as needed.
